Question:
Difference between "Arabian Short Term Marriage" and Islam's Legal Prostitution???

I worked in Schlumberger, an oil service company, about 2 years. So I went to several arabian countries like UEA, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordania.

In Jedah and Abu Dhabi, there are places which offer short term marriage (2-5 days) with beautiful Turk, Kazak, Uzbek, or Pakistani girls. And some business fellows & co-workers are their customers. I cannot "marry" them because I'm not a muslims - except I agree to swear some words in Arabian which says Muhammad is God's prophet.

Is short term marriage (about 2-3 days then disengage) a common in Arabian tradition? What is the difference of this kind of marriage and prostitution? The "customers" must pay a lot of money (thousands of bucks) for the club owner then he could "marry" the girls.

The marriage seems to me as a soap opera, no relatives know (even their parents), even my business fellows have already married and got children.

Isn't it a sin in ISLAM?
Well your religion does not forbid polygamy

Hello

I m a muslim and live in saudiarabia, where actually jeddah is,. I feel sad to answer this question!

As u all knw tht muslims have two sections sunnis(90%) and shias(10%)..

sme shias do believe in temp marriage(mutah), But tht is only a very little of muslims. All over the saudiarabia its, haram(crime) to have prostitute system.

A muslim can only have 4 wives, and tht too not with an agreemnt for a very short tiem, just to have sex with them. Isalm doesnt degrade women !

Hope you all ppl understnd tht..

regards

Ali..

This is a confusing question... I think Muslims can have up to 4 wives. If divorce is not proscribed by the Koran, then what would the problem be with these short term marriages? You assume they are purely of a sexual nature?

Not much of a difference. Prostitution is illegal in many Islamic countries, though not all such as Turkey or Senegal, but Sigheh is allowed in even strict countries like Iran.
