Like all left-wing liberals around the world, they are FAR more concerned with the well-being of criminals than of their victims. Signing the petition will accomplish exactly NOTHING. The one thing Liberals care less about than innocent victims is the will of the electorate. They are left-wingers, remember - that means they know better than the unwashed masses that they have a duty to rule.

What exactly will signing the petition achieve? Peter had an awful short life and he is now dead and at peace.

Where were the extended family in all this? Where were the neighbours who must have heard a child crying in pain and fear? Where were the passers by who failed to notice a terrified child?

Sure, all the professionals failed in there duty of care to Peter. But all of us have a responsibility to protect the vulnerable in our society.

No I don't believe that public opinion polls should be used to determine criminal sentences for specific criminal cases. You may remember when the Home Secretary tried to dictate sentences in specific criminal cases (Jamie Bulger) it was soon nipped in the bud as is it would be grossly unfair having been convicted and sentenced that a political decsion be made to extend that sentence.
