It was 3:30 & I went 2 change for tennis, I was in such a rush, tat I left my bag on da bench. I was da only person in da locker room, but @ the time there were 7th graders @ da entrance. They're always there after school. da next day I checked my bag and it wasn't there. I didn't panic. I thought that it may be at home, but it wasn't there either. I went 2 the head of students. He told me that he is more than happy 2 help. I put up notices in the locker room tellin the person who stole it 2 give it back. Ther cam. has a tracking device inside, n if they fail 2 return it within 1-2 weeks, casio will find them. Also, I offered $50-$60 if they returned it. I am a sophomore at my school. I know that it is one of those 7th graders. They are loud, n always hangin around inside the locker room, but whoever did it, did it alone. I am sure. The first notices I put up were not so good, and someone wrote: "haha. I have it and it's working great." shuld i match da handwritin? wat else shuld i do?

Did you report the loss to your school, and/or the police?

And do you have the serial numbers of both devices? Sales receipts and their boxes might have the items.

Matching the handwriting yourself would prove nothing and do nothing. Even if the police did it, they wouldn't be able to prove who took it from that kind of statement. And, sorry to dash your hopes, but the police will probably not be able to do much about it except record the statistics and be able to notify you if they ever do seize it from someplace else - if you have the serial numbers. (Like pawnshops, etc.)

You could check pawnshops in the area to see if both pieces of equipment turn up. Do NOT say you're looking for your stuff. Let's say you find BOTH items in one shop. Do NOT tell the shop owner. Leave and then call the police - but have already reported the theft and have the serial numbers when you make your first police report, or you'll get nowhere. And keep in mind that pawnshop owners may not have the items on display for a little while (if they've been "pawned" instead of "sold" to the shop.) The odds of recovering that way are very small.

I'm afraid you're probably boned. I lost a pocket computer once that way back in the 80s. And that was when they were *expensive*. Never did get it back. It taught me some valuable lessons that you probably now know:

Now you know that in the future you need to protect bags at all times in public that have valuable items in it, take down serial numbers of your things, and maybe not carry valuable things to school with you that you don't have to have.

Good luck! I hope you find them.

Forget handwriting. It was just some brat thinking they were cute.

Tracking device? If there's a GPS then the company should be getting on the case now. But what then? As someone said, it's doubtful the police will get involved.

Insurance? Maybe your families. Most schools have a very high deductible and your lose won't be enough.

How about a lesson from the school of hard knocks?

Don't bother matching handwriting. And it sounds like you have the situation pretty much figured out; I didn't really understand the bit about being able to see who did it on camera, but wouldn't that help?

All i can suggest is to lock your stuff up at all times and also to use somewhat proper English when you post a question...

There is really nothing that you can do. The police are not going to look for it. Maybe you can tell your friends to look for it, but that is about all. Just learn from your mistakes and try not to let it happen again. I am sorry!
