Question:
I'm curious if facebook is crossing privacy boundaries by requesting a SIN # for access?

Not even banks ask for this info - they send an email and ask clarifying questions - or google may text a new password

I recently thought I'd my facebook account was compromised, but it seems I have been "temporarily locked out" of the account and need to provide some very personal info to log into my account such as passport number, immigration ID with picture, or birth certificate, SIN or bank statement copy.

I searched the internet and found other people have experienced the same. Even following facebooks directions from the email reply sent to (support@facebook.com) lead me to the same process.

Here's the text from the fields:

This is an identity thief! You are being scammed! Call the cops and make a report. Call the Credit Reporting Agencies and put a lock on your identify and credit.

Never indicate on FB that you are going on vacation. You can talk about it AFTER you get back. Bet this guy already knows where you live!
