Another Gordon Brown tax. Additionally the government will be able to monitor website usage - a real big brother move. Are they also going to get BT to replace all of their copper wire with fibre and to route it through underground pipes which may already be there, like the sewerage system? Then we may be able to get the speeds some of us are paying for. The idea is as usual half-baked.

I have also just heard that radios will switch to digital soon. Recently the government assured us that the digital switchover was TV only. Are they going to sort out the radio reception? Currently it is crap. and what about replacing every radio in existence, including in-car systems? Are they going to pay for that?

Roll on the General Election, let's get rid of this shower. We've had enough!

To be honest with the questioner! This is just another Labour Party ruse to wring more money out of the hard pressed British taxpayer or put it another way!It is just another 'Stealth Tax'!

It will be another Road Tax form of taxation where most of the money goes to the Treasury instead of on the roads!

Will everyone still be paying this tax after everyone has access to Broadband?

Why don't these Labour incompetent Members of Parliament come out into the open and say it is just another of those 'stealth taxes!

The British taxpayer are not falling for that one!

I'm with you Kew, I'm flipping fed up of elf and safety and red tape. I vote that we all get some books out of the library, switch the phone off stay in bed for a week, then tell the government to stick it's taxes.

I'm pulling the plug on my broadband if they make us pay for everyone else's.

I think most people have finally seen the light about Brown and his 'stealth' taxes. Why should I or anyone else who pays for broadband fund other people? Yes I have heard the government propaganda about the necessity for it but that's mainly 'spin' just like the cr*p about ID cards.

You can bet your boots the tax will rise year on year it's just a fact that every socialist government in this country has left office leaving a mountain of debt for the taxpayer. This lot will be no different !

You can only smile.

Do you think Gordon Brown will be an elected prime minister?

Coming to something when the Labour party is hunting Liberal votes. All the bum is looking for is the urban/country vote, you can only wonder if he will again promise a referendum on Europe.

No question he will loss, so he can say what he likes to minimise the loses; not like he will be called upon to honour his word.

The proposed £6 tax would go towards improving the broadband infrastructure throughout the whole country. It will not be paying for someone to have superfast Internet into their house - people will still have to pay their ISP's.

The money is for improving the infrastructure. It's what tax does.

Certainly not especially when I can't even get Broadband. If I have to pay for someone else to have the privilege then there will be holy hell.
