I've personally fought this with my local Postmaster several times.

YES... if the lazy mailman can not get USUAL ACCESS to your mailbox, he is free to NOT leave your mail (or pick up your outgoing mail).

So if you are like me.... and have ****** neighbors who park in a way that the only way I can fit my little Jeep in front of my house is to PARTIALLY block my mailbox..... you will have days when the great Government Employee refuses to service you, my fellow tax-payer.

They have to deliver your mail...they don't necessarily have to deliver it on a certain day if they can't access your mailbox. If every delivery included stopping to get out and hike to the mailbox because someone was too lazy to park somewhere else and chose to block the mailbox instead, then the mail would never get delivered. it's is not the US Postal Service's problem that there is limited parking on your street.

If the mailman has to get out and walk to deliver mail to everyone who blocks or partially blocks access to the mailbox, then the mail would take even longer to deliver.

Either park elsewhere, or move the mailbox to a place where you won't block access.

Sure can!!! A mail person delivers the mail in rain, sleet or snow but not infront of a mailbox that has any form of inability to easy access their call and responsibility, Gee they might dent the fender or use to much elbow grease to turn the wheel an extra courtesy turn to get out of a tight spot. Might cause a workman's comp claim or the cost of the stamp to increase. They just don't deliver or take the risk but that's the rules of Goverment. Grin and Bear it or stand outside your mailbox with your hand out to take the delivery. That makes them feel real nervous and you get your point across for the moment anyway.

if you continue to park in front of the box, he can file a complaint to have the post office hold your mail for you to pick up. it,s your responsibility to keep the box clear.

Unforunately he can do that. I get pissed at my mail man too sometimes...they have their own rules...and are picky bastards, but they can basically not deliever mail to you if there is something that they don't like...and you just have to move it or not get mail...besides that there's nothing you can do.

They have a broad range to determine if access to a box is impeded

Sadly, he can. I'm suprised he hasn't left you a note about it.

You could try complaining to your local postmaster but I doubt it will do you any good.
