Invasion of Privacy question?

A cop was eaves dropping on my dorm room at UVM and overheard me talking about marijuana, which i did posses. I handed it to him and he informed me i would be written up and have a hearing at the student conduct and ethics center. However when another kid who was written up also talked to the RD, she told him that the story he told her, which he did not lie about, was completely different from the report of the incident written by the cop. Is this an invasion of privacy?

Well your command of the language leaves a lot to be desired, maybe you should lay off the stuff for a while. Your school has policy and procedures which are clearly stated in their student handbook. They have a responsibility to all the students and their parents to enforce those rules any way they want to and planting a spy in your dorm should have been a no brainer even to you. The written report will be taken as proof because the person who wrote it has that responsibility, Errors are sometimes made but they are considered clerical and they do not influence the court unless they are fraudulent. You have no standing and no excuse except maybe stupidity.

If you didn't want to talk to him, you should have just closed the door.

You sealed your own fate by handing him your marijuana.

if you were speaking loud enough for him to hear you that is your fault. however if he was using a glass pressed to the door or a stethoscope then that is illegal.
