Question:
What do think of NYC aborting 41% of pregnancies?

I don't like abortion. But the fact is if it wasn't legal girls would find ways to get it done to themselves. The thing that sickens me is that too many women use abortion as a form of birth control. It should be an absolute last resort. There are tons of contraceptives out there, so its not that difficult to avoid pregnancy. In 2009, 41% of New York's pregnancies were aborted. While I understand woman's right to choose, 41% is way too many babies to be aborted. Abortion is not birth control, its disgusting that women abort because they are too lazy to take a pill.

"There are tons of contraceptives out there, so its not that difficult to avoid pregnancy. "

Having supplies does not make up for the fact that people are shockingly ignorant about contraception. I encourage you to search "could I be pregnant?" on YA to see how little young people know.

As stated in your link, it only underscores the need for more comprehensive sex education.

Hold your horses there, partner. First off, I doubt the figures are that high. How are they defining NYC? Is northern New Jersey included or not? How about Long Island? How many women go to NYC for abortions simply because there is no one who performs abortions in their communities or for more privacy?

The figure for births in New York City is easy enough to obtain. Babies being born in the hospitals of NYC can easily be counted. The number of abortions performed in clinics can also be counted, but I doubt they could access the women's actual address. So, they did the dirty trick of just going with the percentage without limiting the the numbers to only citizens of New York City proper.

Next, you are putting the blame all on the woman. It takes two to make a baby and the men need to take an equal share of the responsibility. There are plenty of contraceptives out there, true; but there is none that are 100% effective for sexually active people.

Finally, if you are so against abortion, go and convince people not to have them. Better yet, why not talk to everyone about using contraceptives properly to prevent unwanted pregnancies? Griping about statistics that may or may not be true does nothing. Change only comes when we make the changes,

Eisbar,

Actually men have no say in whether a woman aborts or carries a pregnancy to term, so stop blaming them. I know a man that wanted his girlfriend to carry their baby to term, but she was too selfish to do it, so she aborted. So for every story of a guy skipping town on a pregnant woman, you'll never hear a story like I just told you.

Ultimately, at the end of this day in this country, it's a woman's body. If she is dumb enough to get pregnant, then she has to raise the child or get an abortion. Quit blaming the guys - it's not their decision!

I think that's pretty disturbing. But you can't just blame the women for being "too lazy to take a pill." The men involved are just as guilty or "lazy" for not using a condom. And I guarantee you these numbers would be drastically lower if men took some accountability for knocking up women. These men who do this most likely leave the girl and that's why they get the abortion. Because they believe they can't raise a baby alone. It's all just really sad.

I agree. In fact, I think that they shouldn't do it outside of marriage either. It's a sad society we live in today: people that are more willing to kill a baby that's not even born than to control themselves from beforehand. Russia's abortion rate is 60%! For ever 10 children born, 13 are aborted. In the US average, 2.5 children are aborted for every 10 born. It's truly stupid. As a result of this, Russia is a dying country. Their population is going down like Holy COW! It's ridiculous!

Take the darn pill. Don't kill that baby. Abortion stops 3900 beating hearts a day.

properly stated CommonCarp! and that i individually love that! If the thought of a toddler is a so-talked approximately as "miracle from God" then that could recommend that a miscarriage may be God killing the toddler. you are able to not have faith the 1st section and then argue the 2nd. era. Your query is ridiculous, what does or not that is counted how many grow to be by way of incest or rape? We as females have the incredible to abort a being pregnant despite if or not that is by way of rape, incest, or oh idk, the main trouble-free reason, the undeniable fact that WE basically don't want a F*U*C*ok*I*N*G toddler! injuries take place, beginning administration fails, human beings abort. in case you're so involved by saving toddlers then why have not you observed any? Why do not you volunteer some time and bypass artwork in a females's defend and spend time with the ladies who have been compelled to have undesirable toddlers and function ruined lives now by way of fact of it. Yeah, i'm confident you're too busy nerve-racking pertaining to to the rights of strangers to try this huh?

New York City doesn't abort the pregnancies. The doctors abort the pregnancies.

I personally find it upsetting.

Well, it is legal. Nothing you can really do about it. The article did say it was an improvement from 46% 12 years ago. So perhaps more women are using BC.

And?

The only claimed solution I've seen for this is abstinence and denying birth control as part of an insurance plan.

Cheap, available birth control and a good sex education programs would drop this figure.

I think that NYC should figure out effective birth control, particularly for teens who use it much less than adults.

Some are going to argue about abstinence and education and all that, but its a irrelevant side issue. If you don't want your kids educated about birth control, but want to preach abstinece, fine. But figure out how to do it effectively.

If your ok with teaching your kids about birth control methods, fine. do that, but do it effectively.

Honestly they should take a pill, but on the other hand it's their bodies and their babies, so I honestly don't really care about them. They should have been more careful.

I think it is absolutely awful, it sickens me to be honest it really does.
