someone keeps posting an ad "children for sale" with pictures and such on the Columbus, OH craigslist pet section. They are doing it as a jab at people getting rid of their pets I believe and as a joke, but its NOT FUNNY! They keep getting flagged, but every time they are flagged they repost it. Can this be reported to the police and will they do anything about it? here is a link to the latest time the posted it, if it hasn't been deleted yet.... http://columbus.craigslist.org/pet/1727217356.html

You're being trolled. Nobody is selling children. It's Craig's list. People post crap like that all the time, just to upset people like you. My wife once got an interview for a job that turned out to be a Ponzi Scheme on Craig's list. I've seen various other postings that have made me wonder. Then I remember that you can post anonymously, and in the guise of anonymity, people behave like jackasses.

Even IF it was real, flagging it can prevent it from happening, and if it goes beyond that, someone can report them to the site admin. Who, with their IP, can contact the ISP, do a trace, and have the police at their front door by the next day.

Depends on where this is going on, what country?

assuming its in the uk -

I very much doubt the police would have any interest in this unless some positive action was taken in selling children, the burden of proof is too difficult for them to take any action. Also if it is a joke then they will not bother anyway.

You'll be surprised what is acceptable on the internet that is not in the streets.

If the posters are from another country then regardless of what the actual reasons for posting are the police are very unlikely to bother taking in action at all.

It's a joke, jokes are not illegal. The police don't have time to waste on jokes. It's only illegal if there is a reasonable attempt to actually carry through with the transaction.

I think it was reported already. I just read a news article on it. Some kid thought it would be funny and posted it. I would report it just in case
