Question:
Will this affect my post office compensation for lost item claim?

I sent two separate parcels to the same address on the same day. However, only one of the parcels arrived and I want to make a compensation claim for the lost one with with the Royal Mail. I'm not sure if this will be a problem, but I just want to check, I threw away the certificate of postage for the parcel that DID arrive and I'm wondering if the post office will need to see this one as well as the one for the parcel that DIDN'T arrive (which I do have). Can anyone advise me on this? Thanks in advance.

Also, these parcels went abroad to the USA, will that affect my claim?

They will only need the certificate of postage for the item that you are claiming for - the one that is missing.

The parcels being sent abroad will definitely affect your claim, in that it will make it take much longer to be processed and produce your refund.

Royal Mail has to not only investigate its own operation, but get the US Postal Service to conduct their own, and get a reply.

They'll also ask you to wait a while longer for the item, as with international mail there is much more chance of delay and it turning up eventually. This is because it involves not only Royal Mail, but the USPS and an airline (or shipping firm for surface mail), as well as the US Customs who will screen all mail arriving into the US. I think they say something like 4 weeks after being posted airmail. I can't be sure, so get onto Customer Services.

Hi this is a well used trick there are postal strikes going on but even still you wonder if they are honest or not. Claim forms can be picked up from post office or downloaded online they will also post you one if you phone them yoiu will have to wait approx 3 weeks before they will allow the claim if you are a personnal seller you can claim back the sale value if you are a business seller you will need proof of the original value of the item (cost) if you can not prove the value you will only get back stamps as said the claim form is a pain to fill in and the other party will be sent a letter if they do not respond to the letter you may not get back a penny if you are not sending by recorded you need to ask for a certificate of proof of posting not just the receipt I send everything by recorded it is only 75p extra

When you say certificate of postage, are you referring to an insured item or just a recorded item needing a signature. Some items you can claim against and some you can't. Until you can ascertain that I can't advise you further.

The one that arrived is irrelevent unless the recipient signed for both by mistake. The items are sent independently and so you can make the claim.

Separate parcels, mean different prices paid and different claims - not sure though about claiming to USA speak to post office.

The number of packages you sent does not matter

.

The one that did not get there is the only one that they will be looking at

.

Not all the packages that do get to the address
