The death penalty is not cruel and unusual punishment. The death penalty is distributed to punish people for one of the following crimes: crimes against humanity, murder, and other acts of terrorism. There are 2 categories of crimes -- malum in se and malum prohibitum although in my opinion all crimes would be considered malum in se. Malum in se is a latin phrase meaning wrong or evil in itself. Murder, crimes against humanity, and terrorism are malum in se to the fullest and the punishment must fit the crime. Life is the most previous gift given to an individual and you are not allowed to take the life of another person or forever damage their lives by committing crimes against humanity against them. There are certain crimes which are so heinous in nature that the death penalty is the only proper form of punishment. The death penalty is not for you and I to dish out but an individual is arrested, convicted, and sentenced to death. This is not code talk because all video footage clears me and I have never committed any crimes. I am a law abiding citizen.

The death penalty in my opinion is to punish the offender and satisfy the victim. The majority of murders committed are done in the heat of the moment and very few people think of the consequences. Also the majority of people who kill, commit acts of terrorism, commit crimes against humanity plan on getting away with their crimes. Murder, crimes against humanity, and acts of terrorism are crimes committed by arrogant, sociopaths who do not deserve to be a part of society. The one element which is supposed to separate humans from animals is the ability to reason and not act as an animal. Animals kill to eat or for survival and not for the pleasure of it whereas humans kill for pleasure or to "even the score"



People who feel they can play "god" and dish out their forms of punishment do not deserve to live and the death penalty is more gracious then the acts in which they committed. The death penalty is a form of punishment and not cruel and unusual in the least.



People who inflict cruel and unusual punishment/ crimes against humanity, murder, and acts of terrorism do not deserve to be a part of society and their crimes are unforgivable. We have due process to protect the members of society from criminals and keep society a safe and peaceful place to live.



The people who committed crimes against humanity against me will be arrested and sentenced and the punishment will fit the crime. There is no room for compromise and no one involved will be exempt. ALL VIDEO FOOTAGE CLEARS ME

to argue otherwise today, you effectively have to argue that our society has changed so much that the Constitution no longer applies in this way ... and then explain why Texas society has not.



i can see an argument that the method chosen [decades of arguing leading to raised and dashed hopes multiple times] is cruel. and the solution to that is to hang the perp one week after the first appeals court denies his/her comprehensive appeal.

It's barbaric. It's what people did in medieval times. A civilized society should not be in the position of rationalizing taking human life. Of course it's cruel- what could be more cruel than killing? Of course it's unusual- thank goodness. And becoming more so as states do away with the death penalty.
