I think Harry Potter should be banned in public schools?

How about separation of church and state? Some people say witchcraft, is a religion! Also know as Wicans.

And about The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe? Many people don't want that book in public school, because they say it promotes christianity!

You're kidding, right? The witchcraft as portrayed in Harry Potter is not the witchcraft of the Wiccan religion, nor does it promote it. As for the Chronicles of Narnia, they may be based on Christianity, but they are still literature. They are not taught, if they're taught at all, to indoctrinate children. Even the Bible can be taught as literature.

What the hell are you talking about?! Harry Potter isn't taught in schools, maybe in the library, but by no means is that promoting a religion. The Harry Potter series are each a work of fiction, FICTION! Banning literature "promoting religion" from public schools is a terrible solution to your own personal hatred of common decency. The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe is a classic novel, and as will the Harry Potter books in time, and the banning of them from public institutions will be a travesty upon western society.

And Thomas Jefferson has what to do with Harry Potter?

We still have the right to free speech, correct? This is still America. Harry Potter is not teaching witchcraft or Wicca, which IS a recognized religion by the U.S government. The books are FICTION - like Grimm's Fairy Tales, Snow White, Cinderella - do you want to BAN those too?

Get a grip, learn to accept the fact that you can't, nor should you, control everything. If you don't like it - here's a thought - don't read it!

Sure, Wiccan is a religion, but I've yet to see anything out of Harry Potter which would constitute promoting the Wiccan religion. Enormous volumes could be written about works which have characters which have bases in some sort of religion. Most mythlogy and fairy tales have some element of religion to them. Simple stories of good and evil could qualify as being religious; that's how I look at Harry Potter, a story of good and evil. Just because they are good witches and warlocks vs. evil witches and warlocks doesn't make any difference.

Its a fantasy story. Creative writing is quite a subject, and needed in the schools. Otherwise kids will be writing stories like the high school kid near Chicago, writing stories of school massacres and causing the police to be involved.

And at what point do people want Halloween to go away, as it has religious tenets? Witches, devils, need I go on?

Well both Harry Potter and the Lion Witch and Wardrobe are fiction books and because of that they should both remain in schools....fiction...fairy tales

Oh, please! The separation of church and state has nothing to do with what children choose to read in school. Are you one of those closed minded book burner wannabes? Get a life! I don't have any children, but I would be happy to find a book that made kids read and get involved in something other than television.

Many literary classics are also based heavily in the Catholic tradition or in folklore. To say that would to ban essentially most of what we consider to be the Canon as well as some great works of modern day lit.

ok - YOU do could desire to get your info right this moment. enable's assume, for one minute, which you have a element approximately whichcraft being a faith (which by potential of how isn't an identical element as Wicans). (And for the checklist - it somewhat is not my view) Separation of Church and State potential that colleges will possibly not proselytize. A instructor will possibly not sell one relgion over yet another, decide in step with relgion, or "witness" to scholars. faith as area of literature and historic previous is somewhat appropriate. fantastically while it involves a unfastened examining decision. i could agree that possibly Harry Potter won't be a good decision for required examining with the aid of contraversies that embody it. whether it somewhat should not be banned - and espcially on the grounds you supply. could desire to we ban Greek myths - that became into area of their relgion. could desire to we ban Cantebury thoughts - the characters have been on a non secular pilgrimage. could desire to be ban the Diary of Anne Frank - her Jewish faith became into centerpoint to the unconventional. you do not desire your little ones to study it? effective. do not enable them to.

Ban the Bible first and then we can ban other books. Until the Bible is banned from public schools, then no other book should be banned.

Witchcraft is not a religion. Wicca is a religion. They are not one in the same. You can figure the answer out to this on you own.

So your school had no books about religion in it? How are our children to learn about different religions. I think the main mistake people make is to confuse learning about religion and practicing religion.

Don't worry. He's a fictional character. Not only can he not get into your school, but he can't hurt you cuz he's not real.

If you are having trouble with what the school is or isnt promoting then i would suggest removing your children. I personally am not going to put my children in the hell we call public schools. When I was in school we had problems w/ teachers watching girls, kids taking sexual harassment and teachers doing nothing, and even threats with weapon in class and again the teacher doing nothing. This I experienced personally and I dont want my kids learning these as exceptable behavior. God tell us that from the time they are weaned we are to teach them His ways. I think if enough people started valuing their kids enough to remove them from public school then maybe the states would get the idea to increase their moral code when they begin to lose the money. Separation of church and state is a joke. This country was founded on the Word of God by men who believed that if you subverted the word of God you couldnt call your self an American. There is a song which greatly details some of this called america again. So sir or mame if you have an issue with what is happening in the schools today i would suggest that you join me and pray. Pray for God in America Again.

Verse 1: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, First Chief Justice John Jay. Names synonomous with the spirit of our country, founding fathers of the U.S.A. Over 200 years ago they shook off the chains of tyrany from Great Britain, by divine call. Citing 27 biblical violations, they wrote the Declaration of Independence, with liberty, and justice, for all. But something happened since Jefferson called the Bible the cornerstone for American liberty, then put it in our schools as a light. Or since 'Give me liberty or give me death!' Patrick Henry said, our country was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We eleminated God from the equation of American life, thus eleminating the reason this Nation first began. From beyond the grave I hear the voices of our founding fathers plead, you need God in America, again. Of the 55 men who formed the Constitution, 52 were active members of their church. Founding fathers like Noah Webster, who wrote the first dictionary, could literally quote the Bible, chapter and verse. James Madison said, 'We've staked our future on our ability to follow the 10 Commandments, with all our heart.' These men believed you couldn't even call yourself an American, if you subvert the Word of God. In his farewell address, Washington said, 'You can't have national morality apart from Religious principal,' and it's true. Cause right now we have nearly a hundred and fifty thousand kids carrying guns to these warzones we call public schools. In the 40s and 50s student problems were chewing gum and talking, in the 90s, rape and murder are the trend. The only way this nation can even hope to last this decade, is put God in America, again!

Chorus: The only hope, for America, is Jesus. The only hope, for our country, is Him. If we repent, of our ways, stand firm and say, 'We need God in America, again.'

Verse 2: Abe Lincoln said, 'The philosophy of the schoolroom in one generation, will be the philosophy of government in the next.' So when you eleminate the Word of God from the classroom and politics, you eleminate the nation that Word protects. America is now number one in teen pregnancy and violent crime, number one in illiteracy, drug use, and divorce. Everyday a new holocaust of 5,000 unborn die, while pornography floods our streets like open sewers. America's dead and dying hand is on the threshold of the Church, while the spirit of Sodom and Gomorrah vex us all. When it gets to teh point when peoplle would rather come out of the closet than clean it, it's the sign the Judgement of God is gonna fall. If there's ever been a time to rise up Church it's now, and as the blood-bought saints of the living God proclaim. That it's time to sound the alarm from the Church House, to the White House and say, 'We want God, in America, again!' (We need God in America, God in America again). I believe it's time America to stand up and proclaim, that 'One Nation Under God' is our demand! And send this evil lifestyle back to Satan where it came from, and let the Word of God revive our dying land! For Jesus Christ is coming back again in all His glory, and every eye shall see Him on that day. That's why a new annointing of God's power's comin on us, to boldly tell the World 'You must be saved!' Because astrology won't save you, your horoscope won't save you, the Bible says these things are all a farce. If you're born again you don't need to look to the stars for your answers, cause you can look to the very One who made those stars. History tells us time and time again, to live like there's no God makes you a fool. If you wanna see kids live right, stop handing out condoms, and start handing out the Word of God in schools!

(Chorus 2X)

We need God, in America

(We need) God in America

We need God, in America again

America again
