Is it a violation passing a red light while making a right turn?

I received a notice of violation by mail for passing a red light, by an automated photo red light Camera. I was making a right turn. The picture shows that I was stopping (because my brake lights on my car are on) then I turn while the light was red.
Is this a violation?

You are required to make a complete stop before you turn right on a red, so failure to stop would be a violation.
Your brake lamps being on just means the brake was applied, it does not mean you were stopped.

It is a violation to not make a complete stop at the intersection before making your right turn, assuming the intersection in question allows for right turns on a red light.
With that said, the issue of the camera is an interesting one. The case will come down to whether or not the camera can actually determine if you made a complete stop or not. If it cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt that you did not make a complete stop, then your case should be thrown out.

Generally making a right on red is not a violation but is considered a privilege--not a right. In some areas, there are signs stating "No right on red" and in this case it is illegal. As long a you were yielding to traffic which had the right away, you should have been okay. There may have been a sign that you did not notice. Many times, cameras are placed in areas where violations are made often.

You must make a complete stop before turning right at a red light. Some corners have signs that read "no right turn on red light". If you did not come to a complete stop, you are in violation. You can fight this in court if you did stop and then safely proceeded to make a right turn, providing no sign is present that prevents it.

Depends on the state - does that one have a right turn on red law?
These stupid red light cameras have been caught doing this repeatedly.
Be prepared to argue, but ask questions very carefully because in some cities fighting the ticket is outrageously more expensive than the ticket. I heard of one case where the ticket as $80, but to fight the ticket you had to pay court costs of $250 in advance and you didn't get it back if you won.

i can't have self assurance human beings's solutions are so no longer common on you. I admit, I made a activate pink with out coming to an entire cease in the previous, besides the undeniable fact that this is frequently a 2nd after the gentle turns. yet fortunate for me, a cop in no way observed it or the different violations that I did whilst i'm in a hurry. yet I in no way ran a pink thats been pink for extra advantageous than 3 seconds. as quickly as I attempt to conquer a pink gentle, it frequently turns pink the two whilst i'm interior the intersection (it rather is legally ok) or as i'm approximately to circulate into the intersection (which isn't legally ok), yet I continuously get via interior a million-2 seconds after the gentle turns. I now make it a factor to no longer velocity up on a yellow gentle if i'm too a techniques away. yet besides, each and every physique makes errors and you're no longer likely going to lose your license on the 1st offense.

Um....no. You can make a right turn on a red light once you stop. It is on a left turn that it would have been a violation.
I don't know why they are saying that....I do it, my mom, does it, everyone I know pretty much does it. I don't think you were wrong...this is interesting!

you said that you were stopping, as in the act of stopping, in order to make a right turn you have to 1. make sure there is not a sign saying that you can't, and 2. stop completely before you make the turn, this is probably why you were given a ticket. hope that helped.

depends on where you live...it's a violation in NY. You cant do anything on a red light unless there's a sign that says so.

unless its a no right on red intersection you should be ok as long as you come to a complete stop and then make the turn. id take it to court and then fight it. cause you know that mechanical devices dont always work properly.

As long as its legal in your state to make a right on red, and there was no sign to say otherwise, then you should have been able to make the turn with no problem.

Only if there is a sign that says no right turn on red.

depends on the state. in az some intersections are posted "no turn on red". also, i think you're supposed to come to a full stop before turning right on red in non-posted intersections.

Its only a violation if you dont stop. You said you did, so it shouldnt have been a problem.
i'm right AGAIN

if you did not come to a complete stop then you broke the law.right on red is legal after a complete stop is made.however a lawyer can get it thrown out.

i'd think only if there's a 'no right on red' sign at the intersection.
if not, contest the ticket.

you have to be completely stopped, not "stopping" before making a right on red.
also, it must be allowed there, maybe it wasn't.

No it's not. Take it to the DMV to ask about it.
