Execution and gay marriage? what are your views?
[im 14 so dont laugh if i call something the wrong name] okay so with execution i think that it shouldnt be continued unless they are postive that they have the right person cause i have heard that if your in prison and you are innosent you can get money for there screw up? but if they kill you and find out your inosent what happens?
what are peoples thoughts on this one?

and with gay marriage shouldnt it be about love and not if its female-female, male-male or female-male.??
what are thoughts on this one

well im saying dont be sentenced to death for 2 time offence of stealing a car or like a mentally retarded or insane person being executed because he/she killed someone they need help NOT death and dont you think its ironic that someone can be sentenced to death for killing someone but then they are killed shouldnt the executer be killed too bc he just killed someone?

I agree with you about the death penalty, especially considering the history of racism in our country. I would make two exceptions: I would make an exception for people who commit violent crimes in prison. If its not safe for the other prisoners to have someone be kept in prison, isn't execution more humane than perpetual solitary confinement which is what maximum security prison basically is? Also, for war crimes/crimes against humanity I believe in execution because it often prevents future violence directed by the war criminal from prison or revenge carried out by the survivors of the war crimes or genocide.

As for gay marriage, I agree with you but gay rights is a big change in a short period of time, so people may not be ready for it and we do live in a democracy. I don't believe its ok to shove change down people's throats when they're not ready for it. I think it should be up to individual states to have gay marriage or not. I think any state that I would want to live would probably want to protect the rights of gay citizens. However, I've visited Idaho and they're definitely not ready for it.

A lot of people support execution because of Bible/Religion and sense of justice. Peresonally, I feel the injustice of wrongful execution outweighs the justice of rightful execution.

I have always been against execution unless...and I would come up with what I believed good reasons as to how and why it would be ok. However, I encourage you to read "The Death of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions" by Helen Prejean. It brings to light the extreme racism and pitfalls of our judicial system which completely changed my view. Because of these human errors and pitfalls, our government has no right to put to death any citizen for any reason. How can we allow people to be put to death when the verdict/sentencing is decided by a flawed system? Please check out the book for the details of how our system is flawed, as Sister Helen Prejean did tremendous research on gathering the statistics around the lack of equality regarding America's judicial system.

So the "GAY" topic. There is a lot of talk about adoption on this thread. For the people who don't approve of adoption, are you saying single parents should not be allowed to raise kids or kids that have lost one parent are not being raised as well as the child that has two parents?

On marriage versus civil unions. If the relationship could be protected under civil unions as it is with marriage, swell. Unfortunately it is not. Most American's associate marriage with religion. However, many heterosexuals are married that are not religious and some get married without a second thought and are divorced later. It has been interesting watching people want to deny couples the right to protect their relationship when they themselves do not honor that commitment. I also think it is interesting that gays want to be part of an establishment that is, at the moment, pretty hypocritical. Like past socially charged topics, religions eventually change ideals with the times. Remember when whites and blacks were not allowed to marry and it was considered immoral by the church and society? Now, the majority of people do not think twice about inter-racial marriages.

If we all just tried to step in our neighbor's shoes and saw their struggles, took time to understand their concerns and reached out to help one another and embraced and encouraged our differences, America would be in a much healthier state. We shouldn't and can't agree on every topic but we should never ever stop a group of people from pursuing our core right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

People have the right to live with who ever they desire. In the privacy of their own home, they are not disturbing anybody's right to peace. The argument that they hurt themselves through sin and thus should not be able to unite does not stand. Let no chains bind us and no books blind us. Let God punish whoever is worthy of punishment if there is a God. If you follow a god then your kingdom is not of this world. So stop forcing it on the world.

Regarding the government's ability to execute death on an individual for violating a particular law, no. I am against the death penalty for a number of reasons. Life imprisonment can be temporary or permanent. This punishment provides time to pardon an individual or prove that he is not guilty of the offense. Also, violent revolutionary violence may seem worthy of death by one administration and completely justified by another. Things never stay the same. A government that truly is based on the belief that humans are worth something, cannot legitimately execute a person. Death we have no way of reversing. Don't trust any government to make the choice for you of who dies and who lives.

1. I really could care less if gays get married or not...but "Marriage" is a Religious thing...when you get "Married" at the Court House you are actually in a Civil Union...but the problem most people have is where do you draw the line...should we allow a man to marry a 10 year old girl, or a animal, or for people to have more than one spouse...that is the problem...if you do it for one, you'll have to do it for all...

2. If you do the crime, you must be able to do the punishment...everyone knows that killing another person is illegal, so don't do it...and if you do, you die...there are already previsions in place for mental challenged people

you're confusing me, J's M. i presumed you have been incredibly specific of the rightness of your perspectives. yet you have purely permit in some real doubt.... .... by using fact of direction having gay people adopting little ones isn't making 'sturdy Catholic orphanages close', you will possibly desire to understand finished advantageous that there have not been Sodom and Gomorrah variety mess ups recently, and no, gay people have not been burning down church homes. and that i'm specific you already know all this, which makes your question one that seems lots greater like from somebody taking the mickey out of the perspectives with which your call is linked. perhaps you're a smart the image of the unique J's M. specific, i think of that could desire to be the respond.

Execution - yes - more than we use now.

Gay Marriage - no -- but civil unions ok.
