Hi. Let's say you are driving with clean record. Can they search your vehicle legally after you've denied their request?

You're the driver with a clean record. You have a passenger who is searchable but you are not. Can they legally search your car? And if your passenger is driving but it's your vehicle, can they? Thanx.

If a cop has probable cause (a reasonable excuse for why he needs to search your vehicle) than it doesn't matter if you're driving record is clean or who was driving.
Probable cause can include :unserved warrants, the smell of alcohol or marijuana or any other illegal substance, the sight of any illegal substance or product, the sight of a weapon that was not disclosed. That's not a complete list either.

There is no such thing as searchable and non-searchable people. That's absurd. The police can search anyone or anything if they have probable cause.

Having a clean record is irrelevant, if there is probable cause then they can search your vehicle. What would make you "not searchable"? Finally it doesn't matter who is driving.

Of course they can, what makes you think someone is unsearchable. No such thing.
