Can someone name 10 times in the last year that a civilian with a concealed weapon stopped a crime?

Since there are "millions" of these events each year i guess this should be an easy answer.

stopped a car jacking in progress local paper in the last week,



local guy took out a robber in a local store.



what exactly is your point.............. unless you want all the ffing aholes to be the ONLY ones armed suggest you give it a rest.......

i stopped a group of punks kicking my daughters *** guys 2 boot i held the gun point till cops got there i should have sot them but i dint you must be a Obama lover go away your waisting are time

yes just look in the front of a national rifleman mag and you will see ten printed there and that is a monthly printed mag.



Just last week a woman shot a guy breaking into her house while she was on the phone with the 911 operator.

Just after 7 p.m., two masked robbers entered the Gardner Food Mart in Joliet, Ill. As one robber watched the door, the other held the clerk at gunpoint and stated, “Don’t move. Don’t do anything stupid or I will bust a cap in your (expletive).” The clerk rejected the criminal’s order; instead, he retrieved a gun from behind the counter and fired at the criminals, who fled the scene.

Around 8:15 p.m. convicted criminal, Demitrius Newbill, entered the Pasteleria Panaderia bakery in Waukegan, Ill. Newbill’s hand was tucked under his shirt as he asked for a paper and pencil which he used to write, “I have a gun. Give me all the money.” The owner gave Newbill the money in the cash register, as well as all of the employees’ phones after Newbill made a second demand. As Newbill backed out of the store he made a move that looked like he was going for his gun. The store owner retrieved a .38-caliber revolver from behind the counter and fired at Newbill, striking him. Police apprehended Newbill at the scene and after an interrogation the criminal confessed to the robbery as well as to claiming he was armed. Newbill has a previous conviction for robbery from 2003. The owner of the bakery holds a current Illinois firearm owner’s identification card.

Early in the morning, two intruders broke into a home in Battle Creek, Mich. The homeowner became aware of the break-in and retrieved a shotgun. When the homeowner confronted the criminals, one fled in a car and the other on foot. The criminal in the car was immediately captured by police and his accomplice was found a short time later.

Lawrence Adams, a former police officer and current pastor of the Westside Bible Church in Detroit, Mich., was alerted by the alarm company to a break in at his church. After arming himself and arriving at the church, Adams confronted the burglar. An altercation erupted, in which the criminal attacked Adams who responded by firing at the criminal, ending the attack. The criminal was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.

A criminal armed with a gun approached a man outside an apartment complex in Detroit, Mich. and demanded money. The man, a Right-to-Carry permit holder, drew his gun and exchanged fire with the robber, striking him and ending the robbery. The criminal was taken to the hospital in critical condition, while the armed citizen suffered only a minor wound to his head. Detroit Police spokesman John Roach noted that if the criminal is released from the hospital he will face further justice: “If he recovers, he'll likely be charged with armed robbery, and probably attempted murder.”

A neighborhood in Detroit's east side has seen a rash of break-ins and, according to a 38-year-old professional who lives there, the residents have decided to do something about it. "I can bet you everyone on this block has a [firearm], and they're going to defend themselves," she said. The woman's assertion comes after the neighborhood's most recent break-in, in which police say a resident caught the burglar in the act. As the suspect climbed through the window, the resident fired two shots. The suspect collapsed outside and died. The incident happened across the street from the 38-year-old's home. "[It's] not good that he's dead, but good that it sends a message," she said.

Around 5 a.m. a man in Detroit, Mich. noticed three men attempting to break into his neighbor’s home. The man called the homeowner’s cell phone to alert him to the intruders. The homeowner was not at his house, so he immediately called his wife, who was at the home, and told her to retrieve her gun. After arming herself, the wife heard footsteps in her home, and fired at the intruders. The wife’s shots did not strike the criminals, but did cause them to flee the home.

Richard Creed had just finished helping a customer at his insurance agency when two men burst in wearing masks and carrying pistols. Police say the intruders forced Creed to an office in the rear of the store, which, unbeknownst to them, was where he stored a revolver. Creed kept his cool as they neared his gun. "It was none of the flashy lights," he explained. "It was, 'If you're gonna live, this is what you gotta do,' and you think about it real fast. It was pretty clear-headed." Creed grabbed his revolver and shot one of the men several times, causing both assailants to run. Police apprehended the suspects and discovered that their pistols were realistic toys.

An armed intruder broke into the Greensboro, N.C. home of 80-year-old Charles Haithcock, by removing an air conditioner from the living room window. Haithcock became aware of the intruder, retrieved a gun and went to confront him. As Haithcock came upon the criminal, the intruder leveled a shotgun at him, to which Haithcock responded by firing his gun. The intruder was struck by Haithcock’s fire and stumbled outside onto the lawn, where he remained until emergency personnel arrived. The armed criminal died a short time later at a local hospital.





WTVD Raleigh, N.C. 10/02/09

Around 7:30 a.m. Marcell Alston answered the door to his home in Halifax County, N.C. and was struck on the head by an intruder. The intruder continued to attack Alston, firing a gun into Alston’s back. Despite his injuries, Alston managed to retrieve his own gun and fire at the criminal, striking and killing him. Alston is recovering in a local hospital.

A man armed with a tire iron broke into The Auction House store in Lumberton, N.C. around 3a.m. The intruder confronted the store owner and threatened him with the tire iron. The owner responded by retrieving his gun and firing at the criminal, striking him in the leg. The criminal was taken to a local hospital , where he will recover and then face charges of breaking and entering.

Four robbers, one armed with a knife, lured Joseph Cox to the entrance of his home in Winston-Salem, N.C. by knocking on his front door. Once Cox opened the door to see who had knocked, the four men forced their way inside. Cox retrieved his handgun and fired at the criminals, striking one several times and causing the others to flee. During the melee, Cox suffered several stab wounds to the back. Both Cox and the wounded criminal were taken to a local hospital. Police noted that the criminal will be charged when he is released.

Turkey farmer Bryan Tew was driving his tractor down the road for refueling when he noticed a strange car, its trunk open, parked in his garage. Parking his tractor in front of the car, he reached into his pickup for a .22-caliber rifle. Police say that's when a man kicked open Tew's back door and stepped outside with his arms full of electronics and money. "You ever see those cartoons where their eyes get as big as saucers? That's what he looked like," Tew said. "I yelled at him and when he saw that gun, he sat the stuff down ... and ran back into the house." The suspect slipped on the linoleum inside the home and Tew held him at gunpoint for police. "A friend of mine said your body only produces a teaspoon of adrenaline in a lifetime," Tew said. "Well, I think I used my whole teaspoon." Police are investigating the suspect's involvement in several other break-ins.
