From the US Dept of Labor website:

http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/youthlabor/workhours.htm

Permissible work hours for 14- and 15-year-olds are:

3 hours on a school day;

18 hours in a school week;

8 hours on a non-school day;

40 hours in a non-school week; and

between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., except from June 1 through Labor Day, when nighttime work hours are extended to 9 p.m.

Federal law is a minimum and any addtional restrictive state laws are in addition to federal law. Check your state for work permits, age certificates, etc.

The hours you are allowed to work have nothing to do with whether you are in public school or a home school.

Please do not listen to people who put down home schooling. I have a doctorate degree and I'm sure I would have 12 doctorate degrees if I had been home schooled. Unfortunately, I had to sit in a classroom at a public school and be bored to death for 12 years. That's NOT learning!

Public schools teach at the level of the "slowest" kid in the class. Unfortunately, this holds everyone else back from learning.

Also, most people are unfamiliar with homeschooling networks which allow for frequent social interaction between home schooled children. In addition, many public school systems allow home schooled children access to extracurricular activities.

Good luck and keep up the good work!

I think you'll find that 18-20 hours is the maximum hours you can legally work in a week because of your age. And I think there may be some restrictions on the time of day you can work. In our area minors your age are restricted to no starting time until 4 p.m. (corresponding with conventional school hours) and no later that 8 p.m. OSHA will also prohibit what you'll be able to do - no power tools, knives, etc., as well as limitations on weight you might not be able to lift. I'm pleased to see an enterprising student like yourself wanting to work.

You're not in the UK, are you ? If you are, them you are not allowed to work that much even if you are homeschooled.

In the UK a 14yr old can work in term-time, up to 3hrs per day (max 16hrs in total), 6 days a week between 7am and 7pm. They cab't do agricultural work

Sure you can work, as long as you fulfill your states requirements for the 'number of days' you do school.

And if it is okay with your parents.

My daughter homeschooled and 'worked' as a mothers helper.

Really, it's for the best interest of you, so you may want to talk to your mom or dad and see if they can contact your work and figure something out.

homeschooling is not the best education. You are missing out. I bet you would already know the answer to this question if you were not homeschooled.

In all seriousness and all due respect, convince your parents to let you enjoy being part of your civilization.

hey

it sounds to me that if you`re homeschooled, you make your own program.
