I need to know what documentation I need to bring to the court hearing to change a minor's name. I have contacted the court, and they will not tell me because it's "legal advice". I tried searching on google, but no luck... Does anyone know or know where I can find the information? Thanks.

I had this done for my minor son - in my situation the father was not in his life either, and I had to send a form telling the father that I am having this done, the father fought it - brought a lawyer in- in the end - I won. it wasn't difficult to get it done for me.

check the paper you filled out - it should tell you completely If you need anything else. I take it you ran it in the newspaper because you could not find the biological dad- am I correct?

Everything you need should be on the form you already filled out - they have what they need...if there was more to bring with - they would tell you. If they happen to need more information they will tell you on the courtdate.

If the father isn't in his life - and you maybe got married- and the child has your maiden name - I am pretty sure the judge will be okay with it- you most likely will not find out that same day- they will send you a paper and let you know if it will be changed or not.

best of luck.

You probably need a certified copy of the minor's birth certificate and proper documentation why you are requesting the name change. If you are the mother and want to change your child's last name to your new husband's last name you need to get a release from the child's father first.

first of all- the previous social worker above is incorrect.... this is completed- and you do no longer ought to undertake to have a acceptance replace for a a minor newborn. It particularly could be completed -- the step mum and dad will fill out call replace papers -- one element they ought to do- is deliver it off to the organic and organic father -- and that they ought to have information that it replaced into mailed to him and gained- at that element -- the daddy can say its ok(yet doing no longer something) -- OR, can circulate to courtroom- the papers will supply the time/date of the courtdate ----- If the courts think of that it is interior the childs maximum suitable pastime-- it ought to get replaced-- if the daddy did no longer conform to it (particularly if he in in contact) and that element- maximum possibly the courts won't enable it get replaced. it is assuming that the stepfather/ and mom are doing it -- If the form you placed the question.. can the stepfather do it-- this is a completely no! -- no longer on my own- there's no way accessible.
