I posted an Ad yesterday morning saying im looking for a jackapoo puppy for my husband. I got a reply from a young lady who said her dad is sick and they can no longer take care of there 12 weeks old puppy Ella. I asked for pictures and she sent me 2 that somewhat seemed legit, Se only asked 85 and an additioal 65 to help pay for shipping from Rhodeisland to oklahoma(USDA).. It started getting fishy when i asked to call her. She stated she could not receive or make phone calls on her phone and that she have her dad call me on a private landline phone#. less than a minute later i received a call from him, I asked to speak with his daughter. He said she left for the grocery store and wont be back for awhile. I then asked for him to send me a picture with him and the dog in the same pic as proof before i spend $150. He said he can not do that but said he was using his daughters phone to talk to me so he can view our messages... That right there was the sign i needed.. I caught him in a lie, her phone couldnt call out but yet he was using it.. After i said good bye i sent an additional; text thanking him for almost scamming me .. He curesed me out and 3 minutes later it was his daughter again.. that was a short 5min trip to the grocery store lol... Please be careful of scammers on craigslist

Yes, it's a scam--you had some clever ways to confirm it. Well done!

And remember the #1 rule about using Craigslist--only purchase locally and with cash. You have a dog to sell? Fine, let's meet outside the public library at 10am. I'll also have a friend with me. If I like the dog, I will pay you the agreed amount in cash and sign a short bill of sale.

I agree with the other responder that the whole purpose and advantage of Craig's List is for buyers and sellers to meet, examine the goods, and pay cash. It's not entirely fool proof but basically clean and final for both buyer and seller. To prepay for a purchase, hope the seller ships, and hope you get what was promised is what you avoid by using Craig's List.

Yep - one of the many "Africa" scams. There is no puppy. People send money and the "person" disappears with the money, no dog is shipped and the person is out whatever they asked for. Unfortunately it must be a good one if its still "making money" on innocent and nieve people!

Well done!

Try buying the dog from a reputable breeder.
