They are with holding my firends payroll becuase she quit with no notice, left some notes on unfiled papers saying that they needed to be filed, supposidly gave the owner attitude. They also want to check the inventory first before they pay her..make sure she didn't steal anything. And, they weren't going to fire her, but they wanted to make her quit by putting her on the schedule for an hour per day..which didn't happen cuz she quit first. Now, she is broke, not even a penny, with a kid and the labor board is taking too long. Can she go there with the cops to get her check?

No, it's a civil debt, not a crime. The cops won't care.

The law about what they can withhold pay for, and how long they have to pay her her final check, varies from State to State.

In 'most' States, if they suspect she has their property, they STILL have to pay her, and then sue her for what they claim she owes them.

In most States, also, if they miss the deadline to pay her, there are significant penalties - in my State it's a days pay for every day they're late, up to 30 days.

Incidentally.... if they cut her hours dramatically, she can claim unemployment for the hours she was cut from, though NOT for the hour a day that she quit from.

No, she cannot go there with the cops. She did the right thing by going to the labor board, and now she just has to wait on them. The wheels of justice turn slowly, unfortunately.
