Why do groups such as CAIR and ICNA and many of the student Muslim Associations insist on their right to impose such law on everyone; what can be done about stopping it? What problems does it cause, if any? Is being multicultural the wrong approach to take in this area? Your thoughts please.

Laws have to be based on the will of the people for them to be legitimate.

A legal system therefore cannot simply be imposed on a society. A society has to create laws to regulate it.

Sharia laws are based on the word of an unseen super being. They were passed down to humans by a bearded man who supposedly spoke to a god in the dessert.

As human beings had no say in the content of these laws they do not and cannot reflect the will of the people. They are therefore illegitimate laws. In all modern societies it is the legislature and not god who makes laws.

All legal systems evolve over time. Sharia law has not.

Sharia law was meant to regulate a nomadic 1400 years ago. The same rules which were applicable then are still applicable today.

These rules cannot properly regulate a modern society. They are too simple. They may for example cover situations involving the theft of a persons camel, but they cannot deal with more complex issues in a modern society.

Modern laws can be changed and altered to deal with new situations, and even be abolished. Sharia law cannot because it is the word of god.

Those who want to introduce it, want your society to move back in time 1400 years.

Sharia law can never be implemented in most modern democracies because of the principle of separation of state and church.

Sharia Law would be the worst possible thing that could happen to this country. And they are trying to get away with it, but this would be the last thing. We would have no freedom left of any kind. Sharia law would not allow churches, even private churches in your own home. They would not allow Bibles either or Christian literature or saying a word against Mohammed or the Qur'an. In fact, that would bring a fine and a jail sentence unless proved false, but often the areas that have Sharia law do not give fair trials at all, and might even give a death sentence for a Christian who is speaking the truth. What's more is the mistreatment of women which is very common among the Muslim especially those who have instigated Sharia law. Many Muslim men beat their wives even though they didn't deserve it at all.

About the only people who love this, are the Christian conservatives who are as misogynistic as those they pass judgment on. Also, it's another way for the NRA to back anti-government groups in this country, which is their bread and butter.

Also, to all those who think it can't happen here, think again. When you have extremes in both parties, it's not surprising that people would even mention something that is so diametrically, and unequivocally against everything this country stands for. But this is what you get when people need to be told how to think, how to vote etc. The people who died for the liberties we have in this country mean nothing to people who want to allow laws created by people who hate America.

Muslims have not even carried out Sharia of their very own international locations. permit's start up engaged on that first, earlier questioning forward to u.s. of u.s.. Get Sharia carried out in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, etc. Muslims make up approximately 0.6 % of the U. S. inhabitants. it fairly is a protracted way earlier talks of Sharia are ever observed here.

Are you kidding us? Sharia "law" is a misnomer at best. its a archaic system of laws which bear no resemblance to anything we would even remotely think of as "law" . Rather it's a set of myopic and misogynistic rules of a barbaric system designed to force people to accept Islam and to be subjugated to Islamic rule. Check out the web site i put below for example. (video > dot sub below: 6 minutes long)

The supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution requires that all Laws of any state must be conformable to the principles and Laws of the U.S. Constitution. To get specific, Article VI of the Constitution, better known as the Supremacy Clause, states:

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any state to the Contrary notwithstanding.

Here are few other news reports on Islam and Sharia "law">

These are just a few sites that delineate why this pseudo law is not and should not be allowed in this country in ANY form. Please check out the video below and remember that the actions being taken in the other sharia law countries in the other web site stories are typical of this utterly uncivilized system of tyranny.

It doesn't cause any problems because it won't happen. You can't implement Sharia law in the United States. Read the First Amendment.

In the few European countries that allow Sharia law, it's only used in civil cases when both parties agree to it. Our First Amendment forbids accommodating even this. Thank the Founding Father's for separation of church and state.

If people want to litigate civil matter with religious law here they are free to set up private arbitration and settle the matter that way. I know of one religion that already does this.

I wouldn't be surprised if others exist.

This is a really difficult issue, which also exists in the UK. On the one hand we don't want to stop people following their religious code, but at the same time their religious codes should not infringe on the society they have moved into. When we go and live in their countries we have to abide by their laws, like no alcohol, no sexual behaviour - even touching - between men and women in public, women having to cover up etc. In a way I feel they should accept our laws and rules just like we have to do it in their countries.

First offense shop lifting= right hand. Second offense = left foot. Gone. Liberals would never allow just law as this. And look at the jobs it would cost in the penal system.

Religious laws have not, cannot and will not supersede Federal, State and local law. The Constitution guarantees this fact.
