Question:
Why would the woman who hit my car on the highway deny that she did and get an attorney and request a trial?

Long story short the woman drifted out of her lane and hit a car, then over corrected and hit another car, then her car spun across the highway, hit a guard rail and was propelled into my car which was within its lane and I was diving the speed limit, not break any laws when her car was propelled into mine.
It's clear she's the cause of the accident because I was driving straight, in between the lines of my lane at the speed limit and she hit me.
My lawyer send me several papers saying her response to the complaint is that "the defendant says the plaintiff's alleged injuries where caused in whole or in part by the plaintiff's own negligence, which was greater than any negligence of the defendant"
along with a whole host of other reasons listed by number saying I was in violation of certain laws.
How is this even possible?
She literally drifted out of her lane and hit 4 cars including mine and a guard rail. How could I be responsible in anyway. There was nowhere for me to go because of the chaos happening as she hit all the cars and flying car parts. It happened suddenly and nothing I could have done would have prevented this.
My lawyer's office is closed and I just got this letter tonight. It's saying she wants to go to trial.

She is going to lose. Simple.

I suspect she is going to trial on the accusation of a crime, not on the question of who is at fault.

Based on the wording of your question, it seems you (and possibly some of the other people she hit as well) are the ones suing and requesting a trial. Her response to your attorney describes you as the plaintiff.

If everything happened as you described, her lawyer is simply trying to deflect blame by making any and all excuses for her negligence. You don't have anything to worry about.

To avoid responsibility of course. If things are the way you say, she (and her insurance company) are in a world of hurt to you and everyone else involved in the accident.

She's just trying. There's very IittIe chance of her winning that case, since there are probabIy at Ieast four people who got hit and can vouch for it.
