Question:
How come many don't see the bigger picture in the Sean Bell case?

Many who agree with today's verdict argue that Sean Bell was a criminal. They say he should have stopped for the police and not used his car as a weapon. Why would he have stopped if he didn't know they were (undercover) cops? How can a man's history/ background justify him being shot down and killed like a dog?

Also, what would have happened if the victim in this case were white and upper middle class? Would the police have to pay for their brutality then? You bet.

Will the NYPD (black, white, whatever) now have a license to shoot more unarmed black/brown people? Since they can? That's the precedent New York has set.

This whole thing really sickens me. It doesn't seem as if we have evolved much as a people in this country.

Any fool can see that black life has no value in this system of justice. Furthermore, a black man obviously represents a threat so he should be considered armed and dangerous. But wait, we don't have a race problem in the U.S. let's just bury this **** like we do everything else that's bad in this country. If we don't admit to the problem then maybe it won't exist.

Sean Bell? I think your question should be on a local board not this one. I could care less what happens in NY because I don't live there nor do I EVER want to go there.

As for your question about someones past justifying the shooting, Charles Manson was known for his evil and I don't think I would trust him in ANY case for doing the right thing. Using a car as a weapon is a felony and it becomes an assault with a deadly weapon. I'd have shot as well to protect my life or the lives of my fellow police officers.

To everyone who thinks the cops are innocent, imagine that you are driving and some men rush your car pointing guns at you. Tell me you wouldn't try to get away, thinking you were being carjacked. I have never had a criminal charge and I would hit the gas. The point is that the police were undercover, ununiformed, no badges were shown, and they didn't identify themselves before raising their weapons. Bell and his friends, being unarmed and innocent of any crime, had every right to be afraid. When Bell sped away he had no intention of hitting the cops, they weren't even in front of him, he accidentally hit an unmarked police car while trying to escape. The police should not have shot unless they saw one of the men with a gun and they obviously did not.

i dont think of it truly is approximately racism. yet approximately injustice. there are some good cops and a few undesirable cops who do issues that they think of they could break out with. im not debating the judgement because of the fact i dont understand the real data of the story. yet im to not got here upon of nypd, after some years in the past they shoved a broomstick up a haitian mans a** and then danced around the broomstick. the guy is broken for existence. digusting.

everyone keeps saying two of the cops were black.. so it wasnt a "racial" thing hello they're alot of black people who are racist against their own race!! Have you ever seen boyz in the hood when that black cop who was harrasing cuba gooding calling him the n-word and saying he'll never make it out the hood alive. Thats a prime example.

You are throwing a bunch of IF's into this. You are the one who is being unfair. 2 of the cops were black so this was not a racial thing. You are the one that rewards bad behavior and I'm hoping that we see more judgments such as this one. I look at everything for the bigger picture, perhaps a big larger than yours.

As a woman, mother, wife I am very angry and my heart is very heavy for this family. Empathy I don't feel like justice was served, and I don't wanna use the race card but come on now you have all these other black people in jail for little crimes and three cops are free for a brutal murder and crime on innocent men. They took a joyous day for a family and turned it into a very sad and dreadful day. I feel like we should take a stand for him and his family let's not be ignorant and ignore the situation because it could have been my husband, brother, father, son, or maybe yours. Let's speak out and fight for justice. MAY GOD BLESS THIS FAMILY AND KEEP THEM STRONG. MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS WILL BE SENDING PRAYING THERE WAY THAT JUSTICE WILL BE SERVED. SPEAK OUT another note read this and then express your opinion about the injustice that was done.

Greetings to All,

Now is the time that I can open up and talk about a classified mission that I was on. I was asked to be apart of the Sean Bell Trial as a "shadow" juror. I accepted and the process began.

I was sent information on the case. Everything that was said in the court room was at my access. I viewed hard evidence such as the photos of the crime scene. The graphic photos of the inside of the car was also shown to me.

I read every testimony and was asked my unbiased opinion about each side. I was charged with the mission to judge what I've seen and read and give comment. I will not reveal the source that gave me this opportunity.

Based on the evidence and testimony, the verdict was totally wrong. The three officers should have been found guilty on all accounts. The evidence showed the angles in which the bullets hit the car. There was never a gun inside the car. This is the gun that was said to be on Sean while he was in the club. The incident that occurred outside of the club never escalated to anything, in fact, the "SUV guy" as they called him, got in is SUV and drove off. Sean and his two friends headed down the block to their car.

They were singled out from inside the club. I believe that the officers planned how this was to go down. They needed a bust in order to continue working together. That night was to be their last night and the unit was going to be broken up.

If Sean had a gun why didn't the officer go to management and security, ID himself and have Sean escorted from the club? Because there was no gun. So when they followed them out of the club, that one officer radioed to the others and when they (Sean and friends) got in their car that's when they were attacked.

Did the officers ever show Shields and announce who they were? NO. They began shooting. Did you know that one of the bullets hit the air train? Evidence show that the bullets to the driver side was at such a range that shells were found on the roof of the car. The young man that was in the back seat. He may have been shot when he got out of the car to run for his life and he may have been shot while inside the car.

The officers were close enough to see that there was no gun although one of them yelled out 'GUN!' knowing that he did not see one. There was no gun power found inside the car either.

The judge did not stick to the facts of this case. There was expert testimony about the angles of the bullets, gun power etc. I don't know what the jurors in the court room were doing but what I do know is that Sean and his friends were the victims and the three officers are guilty. I ruled guilty on all counts on each of the officers in my final questioning.

America must now pay close attention to what is going on in this country. When the minds of the people are impure, so is their land. This was an impure, unjustified verdict. It is a governmental conditioned act of mind control to people of color. WAKE UP PEOPLE! Banning together to protest is not enough. What is needed is a pure transformation of consciouses.

I don't know why you're so upset. Every morning on the news I hear of a black killing another black. It just goes on and on and on. I guess they don't value life, so why get upset?

I guess you have not evolved much as a people in this country, by your own making.

If the victim were white and upper class then no one would be mad. The verdict was right
