I got a DUI- and I am under 21 in cook county illinois?
Im 20 years old and last night I got a Dui. Will it ever come off my record? It was in cook county illinois. My parents don't know yet, this is basically the worst thing that can happen. last year i got kicked out and my dad didnt talk to me for 3 months for just coming home and smelling of booze. Will this ever come off my record, I am devastated.

I don't want to be callous, but you are not in the best position right now. That said, a lot of this depends on what your BAL tested at. If you are just .01 above the limit, there is a slim chance the prosecutor will allow a plea, but DUIs are the one area they tend to stand really firm on.

To answer specific questions - 1> No, it will remain on your record if convicted or if you plea guilty, that said, the impact of it will fade the longer time passes. It is NOT necessarily a reason for you not to get a job in your chosen field, unless the job involves driving an employer owned vehicle for a while. Most employers understand people make a mistake or two.

2> Assuming you are on your parents insurance, they will find out at some point. Also, its likely many flyers from lawyers will appear in your mailbox as soon as the papers are filed in the courthouse.

Assuming this is a first offense, you are looking at around $500 in fines (a payment plan is usually possible), a license suspension of up to 6 months, and mandatory alcohol counseling. Your insurance will also spike pretty high for the next 2 years.

In your situation, I would suggest you take a semester off from school, find a local job to pay off the fines, then when the dust settles, resume your life as normal. It may be an inconvenience, but assuming you don't repeat this error, its not catastrophic.

No. It will never come off your record....but you'll live. Get a lawyer somehow, there are pro bono lawyers that will help you.

It'll cost some bucks, at least $1000. You'll also have to get high risk insurance for three years when you're back driving. That'll be double the cost of your insurance now.

You can still be a social worker. Keep your nose clean from now on and get your degree.

completely no longer the worst subject that ought to ensue. which would be in case you had injured or killed somebody on an identical time as you have been using around under the impact of alcohol. Sounds to me such as you're in basic terms sorry given which you acquire caught. you need to discover your motives for using alcohol illegally and inappropriately.
