This Is long, but bear with me. It doesn't go on forever. Ok, so last Summer. I got mugged In my hometown. I went to the police station In the area (Huddersfield, WY) And after I'd given the police a description, what I'd had stolen, time of day of the offence etc. A police officer drove me back to my flat so that I could change clothes as they needed my old ones for evidence (fingerprints of the pocket my phone was In etc) and on the way back to my flat, a man was being chased after by WY Police for taking a womans handbag. So the officer driving pulled to a holt, Jumped out and took him down with brute force. Then one of the officers opened the car door, and asked me "Have you got any drugs on you mate?" (I'm 20 year old, but Im sensible and anti smoking/anti drugs) I was damn offended, and I said "What? No! I haven't! I hate drugs!" And he said "Ok, sorry mate" and he walked away (someone Identical to me In Hudds, WY had picked up some drugs, so they thought It was me, but they were wrong) Was I right to be offended by this "drugs" question as I don't take drugs and considering I'm against them/don't take them? P.s "WY" Is the abbreviation for West Yorkshire (I don't live In Wyoming lol)

No, you shouldn't be offended, how were they to know you don't do drugs, you aren't that special.

We task them with investigating. We could throw out this entire function if police could never ask questions. But, just because this is a necessary function doesn't mean you cannot be offended, so on to that question.

Should you be offended by this necessary procedure?

You should not be offended, just the same as when a doctor asks you "do you smoke?" If you see this as part of their job -- they have to ask or they're being negligent -- then hopefully you won't see it as insulting.

Why on earth be offended by a simple question followed by an apology straight after.

Jeeezzzzzz. what is the matter with people these days.

I don't see a reason why you should be offended, they simply mistook you for a person with drugs and wanted to confirm if you had any.

No reason to be offended. He asked, you answered. If he had called you a liar and smacked you in the head - then you would have reason to be offended.
